Discord Alt Account Detection

Discord Alt Checker for Your Server

Check IP addresses and browser fingerprints during verification, then choose how your server handles possible alt accounts.

Alt detection is included on Premium, Business, and Enterprise.

Same-server matching

Connect the signals.
Spot possible alts.

Check for possible Discord alt accounts when members verify. RestoreCord compares IP addresses and browser fingerprints with previous verifications in your server, then applies your settings to warn, block verification, or ban matched accounts.

  • Another account previously verified in this server using the same IP address.
  • A browser visitor ID matches another account that verified in this server.

Possible account match
IP address match
Browser fingerprint match

Checks run during server verification. A Discord username or user ID alone cannot reveal someone’s other accounts.

Verification controls

More context.
Your rules.

IP and browser matches power the alt check. Other verification settings add context and access controls.

  • An optional check identifies VPN or proxy connections during verification.
  • A separate setting restricts verification by accounts newer than your chosen threshold.
What does the alt checker compare?

IP address match

Households, schools, and mobile carriers can share an IP.

Browser fingerprint match

Shared devices can match; browser changes or privacy protections can change the fingerprint.

VPN and proxy checks

VPN use does not prove an account is an alt.

Minimum account age

New accounts can be legitimate; availability depends on the plan.

Moderator review

Review the match.
Keep the right members.

A match is a reason to investigate, not proof of ban evasion. Review moderation history and ask the member about a shared connection before taking permanent action.

  • Two different people can trigger an IP match. Start with webhook warnings and check the context before enabling automatic bans.
Example verification

Possible account match

Example: two members on the same home Wi-Fi

Review before taking action

Verification uses account and technical data. Fingerprints linked to member records are not a promise of anonymity. Explain your verification policy and provide a way for members to appeal.

How to check for alt accounts on Discord

  1. Connect your server

Add your bot and server in the RestoreCord dashboard, then choose a plan that includes alt detection.

  2. Configure verification and alerts

Publish your verification message and configure a webhook. Start with warnings, with alt blocking and auto-ban disabled, so moderators can review matches.

  3. Review matches and choose your policy

Members complete verification in their browser. Check the matched accounts in your alerts, test with a spare account, then enable blocking or auto-ban if it fits your community.

What is a Discord alt checker?

An alt is an additional Discord account. An alt checker flags accounts that may be related, helping moderators review duplicates and possible ban evasion. Additional accounts can be legitimate, and shared connections or devices can also produce matches.
