How saving works
- Bot Token, Client Secret and the Bot Status fields are saved together. A Save Changes button appears once you change one of them (at the bottom of the screen on mobile). After a successful save you are taken back to your bot list.
- Delete Bot, Restart Bot, Custom Domain and Guild Management act straight away and don't use Save Changes.
Delete Bot
The red button at the top right. It asks you to confirm, then removes the bot from RestoreCord and stops it.
Deleting a bot cannot be undone. It is blocked while any of your RestoreCord servers still uses the bot: the page shows an error listing those servers. Move them to another bot or delete them first.
The bot application itself stays in the Discord Developer Portal, and the bot stays in its Discord servers until you remove it. Use Guild Management first if you want it to leave them.
Restart Bot
Asks you to confirm, then queues a restart of the bot's connection to Discord. Use it when the bot shows as offline or isn't responding, or after you change its settings in the Developer Portal.
Before reconnecting, RestoreCord asks Discord to turn on Presence Intent, Server Members Intent and Message Content Intent for the bot. Discord only allows this for bots in fewer than 100 servers. Larger bots need the intents approved by Discord, and you turn them on yourself in the Developer Portal.
If Discord still rejects the bot's privileged intents, the page shows Privileged intents are disabled. Turn on Server Members Intent and Message Content Intent in the Developer Portal, then click Restart Bot.
Bot Token
The token from the Discord Developer Portal (Bot → Reset Token). It is hidden until you click the eye icon at the top of Bot Credentials, which shows or hides both secrets.
- The token is checked with Discord as you type. A green ring and tick mean it works; a red ring means it doesn't.
- The new token must belong to this bot. A token for a different bot, or one already used by another bot in RestoreCord, is rejected.
- Saving a new token restarts the bot with it automatically.
- If you reset the token in the Developer Portal, the old one stops working at once, so paste the new one here or the bot goes offline.
Anyone with your token can control your bot. Never share it, and reset it in the Developer Portal if it leaks.
Client Secret
The OAuth2 client secret from the Developer Portal (OAuth2 → Client Secret). RestoreCord uses it to finish each member's authorization, so a wrong secret breaks verification.
It is checked with Discord as you type, with the same green or red ring as the token. Saving a secret that doesn't belong to this bot fails with "Invalid client secret or secret doesn't match bot ID."
Redirect URL
A status line, not a field. RestoreCord reads your bot's redirect list from Discord and shows Valid Redirect URL if it contains the URL your verify page uses:
| Your bot has | Redirect URL to add |
|---|---|
| No custom domain | https://restorecord.com/api/callback |
| A custom domain | https://<your domain>/api/callback |
If it shows Invalid Redirect URL, copy the URL shown (click it or Copy), open the Discord Developer Portal link and add it exactly under OAuth2 → Redirects. Until you do, verification fails. The check runs when the page loads and after you change the token, so reload the page to see the new status.
Bot Status
The bot's online status in Discord. It is saved with Save Changes and can take up to 2 minutes to show.
| Option | Shows as |
|---|---|
| Online | Green dot |
| Idle | Yellow moon |
| Do Not Disturb | Red dot |
| Invisible/Offline | Appears offline. Hides the activity fields and clears the activity text. |
Activity Type
Found inside Bot Status, and only shown when the status isn't Invisible/Offline. Sets the line under the bot's name.
| Option | Default text when Custom Activity Text is empty |
|---|---|
| No Activity | Nothing is shown |
| Playing | Playing with your server |
| Watching | Watching your members |
| Listening to | Listening to your commands |
| Competing in | Competing in for new members |
Custom Activity Text
Found inside Bot Status, and only shown when an Activity Type is picked. The text after the activity type, up to 128 characters. Leave it empty to use the default text from the table above.
Custom Domain
Under Advanced Settings → Domain Configuration. Serves this bot's verify page from another domain instead of restorecord.com. Click Add Custom Domain to open the dialog:
- Select a free domain: pick one of RestoreCord's ready-made domains, when any are available. It works straight away and is marked Free.
- Domain Name: type a domain you own, for example
verify.example.com, and click Add Domain. The dialog then lists the DNS records to add: a CNAME pointing tofallback.restorecord.com, plus any TXT records needed to prove ownership and issue the certificate.
DNS changes can take up to 24 hours. The dialog checks every 10 seconds while it's open. You can close it and come back with Verify Custom Domain later. A domain that is already active for another user can't be added. Remove Domain goes back to the default domain.
Adding or removing a domain changes your Redirect URL. The Complete Domain Setup steps that follow show the URL to add and the old one to remove in the Developer Portal. Then run /setup in Discord to republish your verification message with the new link. Until the redirect URL matches, verification fails.
To list your servers on the domain's homepage, see Custom Domain Profile.
Guild Management
Under Advanced Settings. Manage Bot Guilds opens a list of every Discord server the bot is in, with its icon, name and member count. An Owner badge marks servers the bot itself owns.
- Search by server name or ID. Select All selects every server matching the search.
- Refresh reloads the list from Discord. If Discord is rate limiting, wait the number of seconds shown and try again.
- Leave Selected asks you to confirm, then makes the bot leave those servers. You can leave up to 50 at once, and a message shows how many succeeded.
Leaving cannot be undone: the bot must be invited again to rejoin. If one of your RestoreCord servers is linked to that Discord server, the bot stops working there.
